That one dress...

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the Royals but I am a huge fan of weddings (I have already made big plans for mine).

With the royal wedding tomorrow, speculations are still high surrounding who has designed the dress the future queen of england will be wearing on the big day.

Several names have been thrown into the debate from Sophie Cranston and Alice Temperley to Jasper Conran, Alexander Mcqueen and Bruce Oldfield. Whoever is lucky enough to have this honour, famous or not, will surely become a household name and see sales rise during the next few years.

One thing we can be sure of is that the designer will be British. We should also expect a classic and very modest design. So unfortunately Thelma Madine of Nico's in Liverpool, famous gypsy couturier, is off the list.

This Mario Testino shoot makes me want to elope! From top to bottom the dresses are by: Vivienne Westwood, Carolina Herrera, Marchesca, Jenny Packham, Elie Saab, and Dior Haute Couture.

The bottom two dresses by, Elie Saab and Dior, are certainly my favourites.

Home Sweet Home

After a grueling 5 hour journey from Manchester that began at 4:30am, I arrived at my family home in Kent and so far it has been awesome!

I got to spend the last day of the easter bank holiday weekend chilling with my family and eating some good homely meals.

So today, whilst the rest of the family where at work/school, I spent the morning getting my hair braided because I had reached breaking point with nurturing the afro.

I have to say, getting the braids put in was 5 hours of my life well spent because I am in love with the look....even though I feel 16 again with this hairstyle.

During the hours between the salon visit and my sister returning from school, I checked out the charity shops around and I have to say Lola is bleeding lucky. In comparison to the one where Lola lives, this charity shop was reminiscent of pre-2003 primark (aka crappy).

I plan on checking out the other shops, in the hope of spotting at least one gem.

At the moment, I am a huge fan of block colour trousers and I am still in the process of acquiring a selection in a variety of colours. I have had this pair from Zara for about 4 years and they have come in handy this season!

This outfit is the perfect salute to my two favourite shops: Primark and Zara. In recent years, they always seem to have something I need.

Thanks to my sister for these awesome pictures
Thanks Warehouse Project for appropriately weathering my boots!

Ps: Hope everyone had an awesome Easter bank holiday weekend. Bring on Round 2...I OFFICIALLY HAVE ROYAL WEDDING FEVER!

Last Night #3 - Skream at Warehouse Project

Another epic night at the Warehouse Project (WHP) Manchester. In my opinion, WHP rivals Fabric as the best club night in the UK.

This was probably the 3rd time we have seen dubstep DJ Skream live and once again, he didn't disappoint. By the end of the night, I felt the urge to skip the next few months and fast forward to the winter of 2011 when WHP will be back for more epic weekends!

Earlier in the day, the sunny weather called for the 4th BBQ of the year so far at my boyfriend's house and seeing Skream after was the perfect end to the start of the easter weekend.

Please excuse the blurriness of the photo. The main highlight of the night was hearing this song:

At The Tate...

♥ Once again, another thing i bought thrifting at the same place. This blazer cost me £2.00. I'm so gonna miss going there to get spend money when i get back to Manchester tomorrow :( Might be overdoing it now though...
But looking forward to going out with Fikki tomorrow in Manchester as it has just been work, work, work for awhile now. Plus i'm bored.

♥ These were taken infront of the Tate Modern, they had some really nice tall trees. perefect for the background.

♥ Was quite annoyed about the reduced quality of the pictures i take now on my camera. But it was only inevitable because i threw on the floor while very tipsy. At least a new one is on my list of graduation presents. So all i need to do is find a nice one. I've been looking at bridges. Not the price tag of a dslr but really good quality. so if anyone has a bridge, suggestions would be welcome :)

This Obsession With Length

Still in London! Went out for dinner with a few friends and this is what i wore.
This dress was £2.50 and had to be snapped up immediately. Was from the charity shop i spoke about in a previous post. In another life, i would have probably cut it up and made it a short summer dress. But its all about lovely length and this dress shall stay as it is. The jacket, also from the shop cost £2.00. I'd been looking for something simple and casual like that but without the silly price tag so this was perfect.

It's funny how I've lived in London for more than 5 years, even when i wasn't, we would 'summer' in London every year but my knowledge of this fair city only spreads to where i went to school and most of the north. I managed to on this short trip see places i had never been too! silly really. all this around me and i don't exploit it. Never again.
Tbh, i am far more accustomed to Manchester life after nearly three years there. (shock horror).

Green Fireplaces

Whilst all the other students of Manchester have returned to their hometowns, I remain in this city waiting for easter and the end of term to come around. It seems like ages (nearly 4 months) since I went to my family home and I cannot wait for my well-deserved week with my family!

It has also been a while since I did an individual post and this is primarily because I have to rely on other people due to my lack of a suitable camera. I desperately need one for my birthday...even my younger sister has an awesome camera!

I had an impromptu day off uni today because "i didn't feel well" and decided a good way to spend this day was to relive and showcase the outfit i wore to the medics' charity fashion show a couple weeks ago.

I am a big fan of wide leg bright coloured trousers and I am currently building up a collection that will soon include a salmon pink or blue pair. They are perfect for this summer's colour blocking trend and i eventually plan on teaming this green pair with a yellow/orange shirt.

However I find that my short stature means that these sort of trousers call for heels to be worn with them and unfortunately I'm a girl who often chooses comfort over style....

Even though I spent most of the evening sitting, by the end of the night the ache in my feet was unbearable.

♥ Back in London for two weeks to visit my mum, internship etc. Really excited because i havent been in London properly since November. The weather has also been quite good so far so good for taking nice pictures!
Although i have 3 essays to complete - 7,800 words combined :( It seems most other universities have reached the end but i still till the end of May till i finish. Then graduation. Speaking of which i have already got a dress for. It was sewn specially for me and i can't wait to graduate in it.

♥ Wearing a skirt DIYed from a dress. The dress was too frumpy and looked so blah. As a skirt, it has become of my favorite things to wear in the spring and can be seen in this post from last year: I Think I Like It. Belt was taken from my mum's wardrobe as most of the things i own.

♥ Also visited my favorite charity shop which is called charity shop haha. I love that place and its an actual goldmine. I got the best bargains spending only £20 for alot of stuff including a dress, blazer, jean jacket, some belts, shirts, jumpers and shorts. Best bargain were a pair of Ralph Lauren khaki shorts for £1.50! perfect for summer :) Went back the next day and got my mum two pairs of Carvela clogs for £6 and my for my aunt, vintage Steve Madden slippers for £3. Should really do a post showing my haul. yes?

A Touch Of Sun

Sunny in April...who would have thought?

The last few days in the UK have been the hottest days in April since the 1970s.

Its odd to imagine that this time last year, we were visited by snow and rain.

However, I'm not complaining. The arrival of sunshine is a sign of good things to come...

Sundresses both by Primark.

We spent the day with Laura from Little room in the north and ended up spending the evening at an impromptu BBQ at another friend's house.

Munching on brownies, awesome potato salad and lamb and apricot burgers is a good way to spend a 'summer' evening.

I was there over this week with my boyfriend for an early anniversary trip (i.e. any excuse to go away).
We stayed in the city center and it was beautiful! It was filled with pretty little cobbled streets and gorgeous shops as if it were stuck in a bygone era. We spent the days doing touristy things like visiting museums and art galleries. We also managed to drink quite alot of tea since they had a fair amount of pretty tea rooms. York also has a Mulberry factory store which i managed to very quickly drool over before my boyfriend dragged me away!

The Shambles. A street that has been around since the 14th century. (My boyf seemed to get in the way of most pictures!)

Quintessential English at its best :)
