Nunga Punga

Its always nice to come across a new brand that is exciting and really goes for what we love when we buy clothes. We were sent these lovely sequin embellished dresses by Nunga Punga, which can be worn as a top or a dress, so we decided to show how we would style these as tops with the other items in our wardrobe. I first came across Nunga Punga when I met the owner, Jo at a press event a few months back where we had a chat about our love for all things velvet. The line which has been created is described as "clothes you'll want to run around naked in" and that it definitely is. It has everything we love - sheer, sequins and velvet.

The tops are really pretty and completely versatile which we wore with a simple crop underneath. Fikki wore hers with purple vintage trousers and my blue version looked perfect with my midi leather skirt from H&M.

To see more check out the Nunga Punga website, they are actually having a sale now. Have my eye on the sequin and beaded cardigan and the Velvet Trousers

Pastime Bliss at London Fashion Week

On day 2 of LFW, we both finally met up to see more Fashion Scout shows. This season was our first LFW experience and we had an amazing time. It was so surreal seeing so many well-dressed people in such a small space. We literally spent the whole day discussing how much we really love that girl's skirt, or that woman's jacket or that boy's handbag. We both heart a man with a good clutch bag!

Our day started with the Ones to Watch show at midday. Three designers showcased their work and our favourite was Yulia Kondranina. Cut-out designs and Tassels...what's not to love! After the show we traipsed down to Covent Garden for a spot of lunch, polished off a bottle of wine by 2pm and racked up a hefty lunchtime bill. All part of the LFW experience...

Lola - Blazer/Cow Vintage; Jumper/H&M; Shirt/Thrifted; Leather Skirt/Thrifted; Boots/So You shoes; Bag/Miu Miu

Fikki - Skirt/H&M (in store now); Jumper/Primark (in store now); Sequin jacket/Drag queen's wardrobe (see future post); Bag/Thrifted; Shoes/Primark

Then it was off to Somerset house for some street style. The grounds were heaving with celebrities and bloggers alike. We spotted some MIC cast, VV Brown and that Diddy dirty money girl (insert name here). It was also great to meet some of the lovely bloggers whose pages we frequent and also got a chance to catch up with a friend from uni who now works in the industry. One thing about the experience that we loved was strangers asking to have a photo of our outfits. That must be how models/celebrities feel. Next season we plan on expressing our creative sides a lot more (*cue dress crafted out of meat a la gaga).

A couple more Fashion Scout shows and our time at LFW was over. Although we had tickets for shows on the remaining three days, med/law school and family plans meant we had to cut our trip short. Looking forward to next season. Thankfully Manchester fashion week is only round the corner.

LFW AW13: Zeynep Tosun

This was one show at LFW that we were very much looking forward to attending after seeing pictures of her S/S13 collection, and we have to say it lived up to the expectation. The A/W13 collection was presented at Fashion Scout Freemason's hall and showed a high degree of artistic flair and skill. Baroque prints, embroidery and golden sequins were mixed with a combination of fabrics that ranged from sheer organza to heavy velvet and leather. High victorian-esque collars and oversize coats further added to the decandent feel of the collection which was presented in rich palette of brown, red, gold and black. Our favourite piece (a difficult choice) was the red coat...Oversized perfection!

Manchester Fashion Week

Since we are all talking all things fashion week(s), it is only perfect to announce that we have been made part of the official blogging team for Manchester Fashion Week. From April 22nd to 26th, there will be a showcase of designers at the National Football Museum which will be transformed to host over 20 collections on the catwalk and hold exhibitions. As an offical blogger, we will be reporting on as many shows as possible. So northern bloggers, get ready because its going to be a good one. We are so happy to be involved in this as we certainly identify ourselves as manc bloggers after 5 years of living here.

So far this year, the people at Manchester Fashion Week have been working with brands, schools and universities to create an event that is truly Mancunian. The students at Whalley Range High School were given the chance to come up with an original design for the VIP goody bags which epitomizes Manchester and showcased it's edgy style. The top 10 designs can be seen on the MCRFW website. The winning design by Ocean Williams (shown below) will now be made into bags for the event by packaging manufacturer and supplier, Duo who is one of the sponsors.

2013 marks the second year of Manchester Fashion Week and sees an increase in catwalk shows and exhibition space. 20% of the 30 catwalks will be donated to independent British Fashion designers creating a fantastic opportunity to showcase their work and champion the new fashionistas of the future. We look forward to blogging about it through the 5 days in April. For more information about the event, visit the MCRFW website.

LFW AW13 : Lug Von Siga

On Friday at London Fashion Week, The first show I was able to see at Fashion Scout was by Gul Agis aptly named 'Mirrors'. This collection showcased skilled tailoring and different textures with a colour palette which gave us power dressing at its best. Set to the sounds of Hitchcock's Psycho soundtrack, this show brought structured lines in black, white and cream with glimmers of gold, metallic and pink. I especially loved the gold oversized suit shown in the first picture and the broken glass 3D embellishment on the dress in the third row of pictures. Overall, I was definitely impressed by this line and it was a great start to my LFW experience.

London Fashion Week - 15/02 - Tartan Midi

Skirt/Thrifted; Coat/Zara; Shoes/Nelly

Fikki and I have always wanted to go to London Fashion Week for a long time now and we were finally able to go on Friday and Saturday for a few Fashion Scout shows and to soak in the atmosphere. On Friday, unfortunately, Fikki was not able to leave hospital/uni so I went off on my own to watch the shows and met up with a few other bloggers at Somerset house. Decided to keep it relatively very simple for the first day with the thrifted tartan midi skirt dressed up with the Nelly heels. My feet obviously did hurt by the end. In the morning, I said to myself I can do this, i'm a pro in heels. Erm, nope! For day 2, I went for comfier shoes with Fikki. More to come on what we got up to!

Berry Red

There's nothing better than a celebration! I wore this outfit a couple of weeks ago to dinner with some friends to celebrate their change of title, from Miss to Dr. Rather than our usual table at Gusto in Didsbury (we have sadly become regulars), we decided to tick of a couple items on the bucket list that two of the girls had written up (please note that neither of them are dying).

So their "bucket list" is a list of things to do in Manchester before the final months of their 5 year stint in this awesome city comes to an end. The list is quite long, however we were able to tick two things off it by heading to the Comedy Store for some laughs and ending the evening with a surprisingly good curry at East Z East. I use the phrase surprisingly good as most curries I have had in Manchester, courtesy of the Curry Mile, fail to make the grade.

Skirt/H&M; Top/New Look; Ring/Topshop; Clutch/Vintage

All the talk about Manchester bucket lists, made me think that I should start ticking a few off my list as a year and a half is likely to fly past...

Ps: We will be in London this Friday and Saturday for fashion week so if you seems around, say hi! xx

Currently loving...Butternut Squash Soup

Call me weird but with food, I am one of those people who won't try something new until someone else asks me to. Its happened with beetroot, olives and now butternut squash. While staying over at my boyfriend's parents, his mum made a very lovely butternut sqaush soup which meant trying it for the first time and I made sure before I left I got the recipe from her. Being extremely busy during the week, its great making this on the weekend and having a huge batch to eat during lunch over the week.

NB: I used this Simply Recipes guide to learn how to cut it.

New In My Wardrobe #2

Top £1.50
Midi Skirt £3
Skirt £3.50
Long Shirt £2
Bag £2 (Perfect for carrying my dslr!)

I love a good bargain, as I think everyone does. If I can get it for a fraction of the price, it makes me very happy indeed. Therefore, I think it is only right I make this a regular feature showing the stuff I get from mainly my favourite charity shop and other cheap bargains. To see the original post where this stems from - New In My Wardrobe #1

Whilst I was in London last week for the weekend, I made sure I took a visit round the shops. Initially, found a Liz Claiborne blue coat but it was just too big so that was out of the question. Although, I thought about altering it with my sewing machine, the work just seemed so daunting so I reluctantly left it. I did however find these pretty items. I have been lusting after tartan skirts/trousers for a while now and not wanted to spend so much money, I was holding out for a cheap pair on ebay. So I was so happy when I found the two skirts in the second and third picture. The darker skirt came which a blazer which I lovingly gave to my sister as she has no patience for charity shops.

Overall, it's £12 well spent!
