Iridescent

Trousers/Topshop; Top/Charity Shop; Clutch/H&M

Just a quick post to show what I wore for dinner with my boyfriend and his family. To be honest, it's more a showcase of this amazing H&M clutch that just steals the show. I got it ages ago but still had not got round to showcasing it on the blog. The shine really reminds me of the MMM clutch which I still regret getting and it really dresses up any outfit. You can still get this for £14.99 from the H&M stores and online.

P.S. Looks like the leaves in the painting are coming out of my head. oops.

What to do with...25p exotic mushrooms

Fikki - As a proud Ijuebu girl I literally hate spending wasting my own money. The Ijebu people represent one of the many ethnic groups in Nigeria and a misconstrued stereotype about Ijebu people is our frugality. However I seem to live up to the stereotype in a few ways. I'm one of those strange people who insist on giving any food a good sniff before deciding whether it truly is past that silly sell-by date.

So can you imagine how happy I was when I saw a pack of exotic mushrooms in the reduced aisle of my local ASDA. I had always been meaning to buy a box but always got sidetracked by the cheaper box of plain white mushrooms. At only 25p for a box, I had to buy them. I definitely find it harder to resist a bargain compared to other people.

This is what I did with the box.
1) A good selection of sliced exotic mushrooms - shitake, enokitake and oyster mushrooms. I love the texture of these mushrooms when cooked, they feel a lot more meatier than plain white ones.
2) I added some cashew nuts, spring onions and red onions.
3) Stir fry it all in a sauce of your choice. I had a stir fry sauce left over from another meal. I cant remember the ingredients in the sauce (i used random things in my cupboard) but you can use a sachet of ready made oriental sauce ie sweet and sour, hoisin, blackbean etc.
4) Mix it with basmati rice.

Nothing fancy but a very yummy stir fry!

Record Store Day

(Lola)
Last weekend, Sarah from Fashion Dotty invited Fikki and I out to Record Store Day in the Northern Quarter. It was a nice and welcomed break from being stuck indoors revising for an exam I had on Tuesday plus it was too much of a sunny day to stay indoors. Record Store Day is a celebration of independent record stores and a celebration of music. Having never been before, we were excited to see what was on offer. There was plenty of CDs and vinyl on sale at Picadilly Records while at the Common they had live music all day.

Brick Wall

We've been meaning to put this post up for a while but misplaced the SD-card which had the pictures on it. After two weeks of being lost and the looming prospect of having to buy a new one, the card was found and the pictures recovered. This is what we wore to the MCRFW blogger event. Even though we live in the same city (5 minutes round the corner from each other) and see each other at least twice a week (except when one of us is ill), we get very few opportunities to blog together. This is probably because carrying a dslr around isn't always practical. This is why one of us needs to invest in a simple point and shoot for impromptu moments.

Lola - Jeans/New Look; Shirt/Charity Shop; Jacket/Zara; Clutch/Primark

(Lola) I really wish New Look still had these jeans in stock, I would have bought like 2 more pairs. They are the most comfortable, versatile pair I own and I rarely ever wear jeans. Does anyone know where I can get similar acid wash green jeans? Also, a nice honourable mention to my £3 clutch from Primark!

Fikki - Coat/H&M; Trousers/Thrifted; Shirt/Primark; Bag/Thrifted

(Fikki) This shirt is probably one of my favourite buys from primark ever. It was on sale last winter (i think) when the snake print trend was everywhere. I wore it with red trousers which Lola saw whilst thrifting. I got the next bus to town to buy them before they were gone. They are a little bit on the small size around the waist but its my encouragement to do more sit-ups before bed.

Snake Print

Dress/H&M; Necklace/Folli Follie

Wore this for a full day of lectures and revision today for my exam next week (Tuesday could not come any sooner). I love wearing this dress because it makes for such a simple day time look without much frills. Personally, the snake print is just right without coming across as too garish.

It has been one of the worst day to even try to attempt to take any outfit pictures. It's so windy in Manchester especially near where I live so it was near impossible to take anything without my eyes closed or my hair over my face. But it is now really sunny so time to get all the spring clothes out finally and switch the 40 denier tights with some 15 denier ones.

Hope everyone is enjoying the little bit of sunshine. Back to the books for me!

Pictures taken by my flatmate, Zainab who takes quite a lot of our pictures. Thanks, darling. I will learn how to use my tripod soon.

P.S As you can see the blog is going through some changes, we have had the same blog design for a long long time and an overhaul was overdue. The sidebar will be also changed soon.

Tie Dye

Tie Dye Top/Thriftette; Skirt/H&M

I wore this to the massive north meet up for bloggers planned by Em of Em Talks. We seem to be going to a fair bit of meet up and blogger events lately which is great as we get to meet like minded people. The day was really lovely with yummy cocktails and the biggest goodie bag in the history of gift bags!

I got the top from Thriftette after their event and the pvc esque skirt is from H&M for only £5 in the sale. I have never worn anything like this skirt but it was calling my name and I already was making up ways I could wear it in my head while it was on the rack. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea but I absolutely love it.

#MCRFW Blogger Event

We've both been meaning to put up this post but we are currently inundated with revision for upcoming exams (a long-standing theme in our lives).

Anyways last week, we were invited to our first Manchester Fashion Week official blogger event at the Castle Galleries on Deansgate in Manchester. If you're into art and ever in Manchester, this gallery is one to check out! The event was a great opportunity to find out more about the upcoming event, which we are both really excited about. It's only a couple weeks away now.

The best part of the night, was the chance to meet other fellow northern bloggers. Our blog reading list officially got bigger that night.

We met the lovely Danielle of A Blog from Blackpool; Laura of Logans Runway; Maya of Big Dreams, Small Girl; Jodie of A Stylist's Diary; Kate of Fashion Fallows; Irena of Irena D World; Gwen of This Fashion is Mine; Maria of Miss Drifted Snow White, Kate of the Quick Red Fox and Martyna of El Martina. Definitely check out their blogs!

After a few glasses of champagne and mini red-velvet cupcakes, we headed home excited to open our new MCRFW blogger monthly gift box.

Lastly, we would like to thank the whole team at Manchester Fashion Week for such a lovely night. It left us both very excited for fashion week.

Manchester Fashion Week will be hosting 30 shows over the week, with the first three days dedicated to high street fashion, the fourth day for new talent, the fifth day, a luxury design showcase and a bridal edit on the last day. Check out the mcrfw website for more information on the events, tickets and the latest news.
