Ankara Trousers

Top/Thrifted; Jewellery/Primark; Shoes/Primark

Can you believe these trousers originally belonged to the boy?!?

Last time he was in Nigeria, he asked his tailor to sew him a couple of trousers from some Ankara (African fabric) he had. Unfortunately for him, something got lost in translation and the tailor ended up making both trousers three-quarter length.

So there was little else he could do but give them to his 5ft3 girlfriend (ME!). A combination of the boy's slim frame and the elasticated waistband meant that both trousers actually fit quite well. After a bit of DIY to the hemline, they were ready to wear.

I wore this pair to my cousin's 18th birthday party a week ago. I absolutely adore the print of this one and think I might just be able to get away with wearing them to hospital as long as I stick to a black top and lose the chunky necklace.

Parka/Get The Label*; Skirt/Charity Shop; Top/H&M; Boots/So You Shoes

I have been awol from the blog for awhile now due some unfortunate incidents in my life and general exam hibernation . But now I'm back refreshed, officially finished law school and starting in my new job next week. The fact that law school is over also means that I can hopefully blog more. I'm planning to do a work series post so you can see what I wear to work and I don't just showcase my weekend looks.  The work wear series would really be helpful in trying to redefine my wardrobe to fit in with work.

Back to the casual - say hello to my gradual transition into autumn. Once again everyone is wearing tartan so I pulled out this skirt I bought for a £1 from my local charity to pair with my new coat from Get The Label for a day of shopping. The infamous checked print is once again on the high street this season in all shapes and sizes. The parka made for a nice contract with the oversized look and manish silhouette. Plus, it's unbelievably warm and cosy. Exactly what I need this autumn.
