What We Wore | Little Black Dress - The Diana Dress

Dress/Little Black Dress*, Heels/New Look; Clutch/Primark; Necklace/Accessorize

It's always great to get very dressed up now and again for a night out. The annual Christmas black tie ball at the firm where I work presented that great opportunity. The Diana dress from the Little Black Dress collection just seemed so perfect for this opportunity. This dress is modelled on the 'revenge dress' Princess Diana wore to the Serpentine Gallery event when she found out that Prince Charles had an affair. It was daring but drop dead gorgeous.

The people at Little Black Dress managed to recreate and update that look so well. I would have never been the one to wear an outfit with had ruching but this has been done so well on this dress where it hugs in all the right places without ruining the look. I paired it with shoes I recently purchased from New Look and as little jewellery as possible. This dress speaks for itself as its absolutely sexy with its revealing neckline but still demure with it's classic shape.

What We Wore | White Walls

I've had this white blazer from Mango for nearly a year but this was the first time I ever wore it. As much as I try, I have to admit that I am a bit of a clumsy eater! I typically have at least one stain on my clothes when I go out for dinner - see the second and fourth picture for reference. So white is a bit of a no-go area for me at dinner time! But I decided to take the risk and where the blazer to our friend Kerry's birthday dinner matched with a white cami from Matalan and Polkadot trousers from H&M. And although I tried very hard, I still made a bit of blunder...Luckily it was not on the Jacket!

What We Wore | Orange and Tartan

Coat/ASOS; Trousers/Charity Shop (Eastbourne); Top/Motel; Heels/New Look

It's been a while since Fikki and I have done any sort of outfit post. Having two very busy jobs, it's been hard to find some sort of balance. But now we are back living together, we are getting our schedules back on track somehow.

Having transitioned into AW, I got this coat from the ASOS sample sale for £15! I usually tend to stick to black coats for winter for the sole reason of practicality. But when I saw this I thought, it can definitely work with 80% of my wardrobe. For our friend, Kerry's birthday dinner, I went for these oversized tartan trousers I picked up from a charity store for £3 with the top from Motel which I got at the start of last year. I thought the tartan might clash really badly with the orange but it ends up complimenting each other quite nicely.

Event | Joy Store Manchester Opening

Last weekend I met up with Frances of the blog francescassandra to celebrate the opening of the new Joy Store in Manchester. The new store is located on St Mary's Gate, not far from the city's M&S. With lots of stores around the country and also available online, Joy is an amazing fashion and lifestyle brand. Its odd to think that they didn't have a store in Manchester already.

The new manchester store is set over 4 levels. As you walk in you are instantly drawn to their eclectic mix of quirky and fun gifts which range from books all about pugs to stunning painted teapots. Up on the mezzanine level is the womenswear section which stocks a range of stylish brands including Joy's own Louche label. I was instantly drawn to their co-ords and just had to take one home.

The next floor down has a great selection of menswear from trendy tees to thick cosy man jumpers. Perfect for the changing weather! The basement was still being renovated but should be ready for shoppers before the christmas rush.

As part of the 25 years of Magnum celebrations, Magnum have released a limited edition Creme Brûlée flavour exclusively to Selfridges.

Restaurant | Albert's Shed

This new feature on Pastime Bliss will be a showcase of the awesomeness Manchester has to offer. From interesting art galleries and museums to bars and restaurants serving great food and drink.

First on the list is Albert's Shed...

(Fikki)

We made a pact earlier in the year to try out lots of restaurants in the city and so far we've done quite well. The most recent one we went to was Albert's Shed by the canals in Castlefield. As a regular at the Didsbury equivalent (the boy practically lives next door), I had high hopes for this restaurant, to which it delivered. As we made our way down the cobbled streets of Castlefield, we both wondered how we had never ventured to this part of town in our 5 years in Manchester even though we live close by.

What We Wore | H&M Printed Trousers

Top & Sandals/New Look; Trousers/H&M

We are in the height of summer and the weather has been amazing (although that seems to have died down), has been the best for festivals and holidaying in the UK. Although I've been stuck at work 5 days out of 7, I've been trying to enjoy it as much as I can and taking up all the opportunity for events and small festivals Manchester has to offer.

What We Wore | Yellow Asos Cami and White Perforated Primark Skirt

The boy recently took me on a trip to Florence and we stopped in Pisa for a day to experience the city and obviously take a few obligatory leaning tower photos. Check out an upcoming travel post on my trip.

Good planning meant that we avoided the forecasted showers and were able to enjoy the sunshine and the 30+ degree heat. Luckily I packed a suitcase of appropriate clothes and shoved a roll-up parka in my bag everyday for good measure.

After losing a few of these type of camis in my mothers washing machine, she's had it for 10+ years and refuses to change it even though it ruins clothes, I bought this one along with a few other colours on ASOS. I always like to see everything a store has to offer before choosing what to buy and due to the volume of items on ASOS, I rarely shop on the site. But when I need something specific, like a few camis, it's a good choice especially because of the added bonus of a student card (which has now expired...bye bye discount shopping).

Please excuse the faux-engagement ring - The boy mentioned that a friend and his girlfriend managed to get a few freebies on holiday as she was wearing a cheap ebay version. So I was hoping to try my luck in Italy but never did :-(

These shots were taken on the steps of the Baptistery in Pisa.

Food | Moretti Gran Tour - Birra Moretti Event, Old Granada Studios, Manchester

Travelling and eating are perhaps two of our favourite pastimes. So we were both delighted when we got invitations to the Moretti Gran Tour hosted by Birra Moretti. Since I only just got back from a recent trip to Florence with the boy, I couldn't wait to revisit some of the wonderful flavours of Italian cuisine. Secondly, it gave me something different and fun to do on my birthday!

So after a 4 hour drive back up to Manchester from Kent and a quick power nap, I headed down to the Old Granada Studios in Manchester to meet up with Lola and our bestie, Kerry.

The Moretti Gran Tour is a pop up street food event that will be showcasing the best of the UK's Italian street food vendors serving exciting pastas, tasty pizza and refreshing gelato! All whilst listening to music provided by Warehouse Project resident DJs and sipping on a cool pint of Birra Moretti beer.

On arrival we were given a map to guide us through the tour. It listed the vendors, what they had on offer and which region they represented. The Ravioli stuffed with butternut squash with speck by the Cooking Cooks sounded scrumptious!

What We Wore | Zara: Embroided Sleeves

Top/Zara, Skirt/Primark, Sandals/Office, Rings/H&M

In order to avoid paying to store all my belongings in the interim between uni and work, I have carefully distributed all my things between the houses of my lovely friends in Manchester. So in the meantime, I am sofa hopping and living out of a suitcase, which is helping me save a bit of cash. I look forward to telling my kids about that brief moment when "mummy was homeless and only had a few pennies to her name" - slight exaggeration but who cares...

So, having a limited wardrobe and living out of a suitcase means that I get to pair things that I never would have as its such a fuss finding the right thing when all your clothes are in a jumbled mess. However, I love the combo of the pink and black which I wore to run errands the other day. PS its awesome to have Lola around to take photos hence why I'm blogging again.

Travel | Edinburgh, Scotland

The only other country I have been to in the United Kingdom is Scotland and Edinburgh is the only place I have visited in Scotland - four times in the last 3 years! Bear in mind the only other places I have been to this often in the UK are Manchester (where I live) and Kent/London (where my family home is).

Lust List #9 Summer Sale - Dresses

The summer sales have been amazing so far, having already raided Zara and H&M for some new clothes including new work wear. Now I'm looking online to see what else there is. Everyone loves a pretty dress whether it be for a day out or a night out so I thought I would focus this post on my favourite dresses I have seen on sale so far. So far the Zara Printed dress in my wardrobe (and Fikki's!) whilst the ASOS Cami Dress and  Monoclash dress are in the post on the way to me!

Zara Special-T Paint Splatter Dress

Dress/Zara (Also Similar Here); Shoes/New Look

With the high street sales in full swing, Fikki and I raided the Zara sales - not much difference in price but it was nice to have to have a few pounds knocked off their dresses. The crazy brush strokes on the dress are a great take on the graphic paint splattered print I have seen on the high street with the solid white background acting very much like a canvas. I absolutely love this dress.

Travel | Zadar, Croatia

In 2011, I travelled around Croatia for about 4 weeks with friends to celebrate graduating from University and fell in love with the country and all its beautiful cities. Therefore, when the chance came to visit again with my friend Danielle, we booked tickets for a weekend in Zadar. When I was last in Zadar, we spent about 2/3 days there and it was one place I felt I had not seen enough of. As it was my second visit, here is a low down of where to stay and what to do if you ever decide to visit Zadar.
