Event | Ideal Home Show at Christmas*

A few weeks ago, I was invited to the Ideal Home Show at Christmas at Event City Manchester. After the success if last years event, it was not surprising that the traffic this time around, to the venue adjacent to Trafford Centre, was horrendous.

Due to work commitments, I was unable to attend the celebrity opening day that i invited to so instead went down to the venue on a busy shopping saturday with my housemate, Therese. When we arrived we had two choice, to sit in traffic for God know's how long or brave the rain and park a little further out. We chose the latter.

We picked up our press pass and as we entered into the arena, we were greeted by a sea of chrsitmas trees and the pleasant sounds of carols from a choir that filled the air with yuletide bliss.

The Ideal Home Show at Christmas is a one stop shop for everything you need this christmas from bespoke christmas trees from the cheshire woodland to ornate decorations that add some sparkle to your holiday season.

With over 300 exhibitors all under one roof you can complete your christmas shopping, learn how to prepare that perfect festive treat or just enjoy a day out with family and friends which is exactly what we did.

There were hundred of gift ideas at great prices from sweets to paintings to a brand new Lexus. I have to admit whilst the food and drinks sections were a lot of fun, i was underwhelmed by the fashion and beauty offers available. Aside from a bandage gold dress which i bought and plan to wear on NYE in Nigeria, the clothes on sale did not make me want to part with my hard end cash. next year it would be nice to see a stall with fun Christmas Jumpers, the only things worth wearing in the festive season!
Tickets to the Ideal Home Show at Christmas also gave us entry to the Cake and Bake Show. The Great British Bake Off had live demonstrations all through the event with contestants from this years GBBO showcasing their skills throughout the day. Whilst we missed out favourites, Nadiya and Tamal, we got to see hilarious Sandy bake the biscuits from her infamous biscuit box.
We ended the day with a delicious 3 course meal at the Greg Wallace restaurant and headed home to enjoy the fudge we bought. A fun day all round. I thoroughly recommend making a note in your diary to keep an eye out for when next years event is announced.
