My first week off work in months began with an utterly relaxing experience. It was such a pleasure to receive an invite to spend the day at Mottram Hall after a week of working hard in general practice and a thankfully brief stint in the emergency department. The day was going to be a chance to visit the beautiful grounds of Mottram Hall, use its award-winning spa facilities, and learn a thing or two about fashion and makeup from some experts. Sounded like a great way to spend a Saturday.
So on Saturday morning, I packed my swimsuit and gym kit and headed south of Manchester to Cheshire. Mottram Hall, is a golf and leisure resort situated in the quaint and affluent village of Mottram St Andrews in the middle of the scenic Cheshire countryside. Classically running a bit late (I need to set all my clocks to an hour early), I made my way up the tree lined drive to the stunning Grade II listed former country home which is now a luxury hotel run by Qhotels. The building is surrounded by beautiful woodland and a championship standard golf course.
The day kicked off with glasses of buck's fizz/mimosas and brief introductions with Sammy, who kindly organised the event on behalf of Spa Seekers, and other bloggers. The first part of the day was a colour consultation workshop with Maria Moyles, from Colour Me Beautiful - a company that offers consultations in colour analysis, personal styling, wardrobe audits and personal shopping experiences. We learnt how your skin tone, eye and hair colour can greatly influence which colours and tones best suit you. Whilst I enjoyed the session, i sadly couldn't really see how the concepts apply to me as a black woman. I did however win a book during the session which may be able to better explain how this concept of colour matching applies to darker skin tones.
All the chatting and laughing during the session worked up a bit of an appetite and we were treated to a delicious afternoon tea. Sandwiches, tea, sweet treats and lots of prosecco! So much choice and food that we couldn't finish it all.
We walked off a few of those calories with a tour of the venue with the spa manager and even got a sneak peek of the decor of the wedding which was being held at the venue that day. The bride, who looked gorgeous, chose a fresh white decor that was stunning.
Next up was a makeup tutorial with professional makeup artist Chloe Johnston whose work has just been featured in the press on her beautiful clients Katie Piper and singer, Ella Shaw. She gave us great tips on creating a beautiful smokey eye and fleeky eyebrows, even for girls like me who are always in a bit of a rush. It's always great to talk to other bloggers about makeup and fashion because you pick up great advice on different products. Currently trialling Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation as a result of our chats with Chloe.
The day ended with some time to relax in the spa and fitness suite. After a quick session in the well equipped gym, i hung out with the girls in the jacuzzi and sauna before heading back home to pack for my week in Scotland with the boy. It was a great day out and i left relaxed and learnt a thing or two. it was the perfect start to my week without work!
So if you love the sound of that, Spa Seekers have teamed up with award-winning, luxury hotel group QHotels, to create the 'Great Getaway Competition' which offers THREE lucky winners a chance to win a luxury weekend spa break for two (you and a friend who deserves it!). The winners will be chosen at random to whisk their chosen guest off for a luxury hotel and spa break at Telford Hotel and Golf Resort, including a sumptuous breakfast, lunch and dinner with a complimentary spa treatment. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to take a picture of yourself and your plus one, share it on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #SpaSeekersGetaway with an explanation on why you've chosen your plus one. The competition ends 31/07/2016, so be quick and good luck!
